The American College of Medical Quality (ACMQ), a professional organization whose members espouse the disciplines of quality management, quality performance and quality improvement, has a defined core curriculum. This core curriculum is the basis from which the educational programs sponsored by ACMQ are derived.
Unlike many professional medical specialties, this specialty is dynamic and constantly changing. Consequently the character and definition of the core curriculum is evolving continuously and will be updated on at least a yearly basis. The core curriculum is currently classified into six sections: Quality Management; Organization Design and Management; Utilization Management; Economics, Finance and Government; Medical Informatics; Legal and Ethical Issues.
Studying this complete core curriculum will provide the health professional with a foundation and an overview of the specialized education necessary to succeed in passing the American Board of Medical Quality certifying examination.
