Program Goal

The program goal is to enhance participant understanding and interest of the dynamics of Quality Management. The work that will be reflected in the ACMQ lectures is an accumulation of 33 years of work in the field of health care quality. The majority of the work was done at North Shore University Hospital (NSUH) and Northwell Health System. The frame work, implementation of quality management process, and the recognition on a national and international level was due to getting support from administration, medical staff, nursing staff and support services.

The lectures will explain the practical aspects of implementation in both types of environments. The theory, regulatory expectations, and results of performance improvement activities one can read in books. The lectures will also reflect the unique roles of Yosef and Andrea; Yosef as a retired executive, member of the Quality Committee of Northwell Health Board of Trustee and a Board Member of ACMQ, and Andrea as a nurse and an executive with a focus on hospital operations and quality management. They will bring quality to the bedside and to the board room. Jack Walsh, created GE through Six Sigma and an internal university. Mike Dowling created Northwell Health through quality management, the Center for Learning and Innovation, Medical and Nursing school, and a strong vision for caring for the community. On a hospital level, the current executive director Jon Sendach assures that quality is part of care delivery and belongs to all employees. Jon has agreed to feature NSUH in this series that will focus on all dimensions of quality: methodology, finance, process, outcomes, and sustainability.
