MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

Henry Johnson MD, MPH

Dr. Johnson is Vice President and Medical Director of Midas+ Solutions, A Xerox Company, in Tucson, Arizona, where he supports software development and client relations with special emphasis on safety, physician profiling, and decision support.

A graduate of the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, Dr. Johnson did post-graduate training in internal medicine and gastroenterology at the University of California, San Diego. Following training he joined Scripps Clinic as a gastroenterologist where he served on the Medical Executive Committee, chaired Pharmacy and Therapeutics, and Quality Assurance committees, designing peer review systems and leading performance improvement projects for Scripps Green Hospital. In 1995, he earned the MPH degree in Epidemiology at San Diego State University Graduate School of Public Health.

From 1994 to 2002 he served the five-hospital Scripps Health system in San Diego as Vice President of Clinical Measurement and Outcomes, providing support for care design and clinical programs, outcomes and decision support, clinical information systems, accreditation and licensure, and performance improvement. During this time Dr. Johnson served as an Institute of Medical Quality (IMQ) surveyor for the California hospital accreditation program, surveying hospitals throughout the state of California as part of the triennial CALS process.

Dr. Johnson represents Midas+ Solutions/Xerox at the National Quality Forum and co-chairs the NQF Common Formats Expert Panel. Under the broad umbrella of the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act of 2005, this panel has responsibility for reviewing public comments on AHRQ definitions of safety events and the data elements to be collected in support of Patient Safety Organizations and the network of patient safety databases (NPSD).
